MMI just installed CellManipulator Optical Tweezers at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China.
We are thrilled to share some exciting news from our MMI team. Recently, we successfully completed the installation of the CellManipulator Optical Tweezers system at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), located in the historic and vibrant city of Nanjing, China. This marks a significant milestone for both MMI and the university, as it brings cutting-edge optical manipulation technology into one of China’s leading research institutions.
The CellManipulator Optical Tweezers system is a highly specialized instrument that uses focused laser beams to trap and manipulate microscopic particles, including cells and other biological specimens, without physical contact. This powerful technique enables scientists to conduct precision experiments that were once impossible with traditional mechanical tools.
To further enhance its performance, the system has been integrated with a high-precision piezo table from PI (Physik Instrumente) Group for ultra-stable sample positioning. It is also seamlessly combined with the Nikon AX confocal laser scanning system inside the Nikon Eclipse Ti2 microscope platform, providing researchers with advanced imaging capabilities. Additionally, the setup includes a back-focal plane force spectroscopy system, allowing for direct measurement of cellular and molecular forces in real time. This powerful integration offers NUAA scientists a comprehensive platform for single-molecule studies, cellular biomechanics, and nanotechnology research.
